A lockdown at Yale University cost the city of New Haven roughly $30,000 in overtime pay for police, the Register reports.

Yale went on lockdown on Nov. 25 as a result of a 911 call claiming a shooter was on the way to campus. The call turned out to be a hoax, but that wasn't determined until a room-by-room search was conducted by SWAT teams.

Police have not made an arrest but do have a person of interest in the false gunman report.

Other towns in Connecticut were hit with similar bills for their own campus lockdowns.

A week after the Yale incident, a similar shelter-in-place order was initiated at the University of New Haven. In the UNH case, a student was arrested with weapons on Dec. 4. The UNH lockdown cost the city of West Haven around $12,000 in police overtime.

New Britain spent $13,000 on a lockdown in November at Central Connecticut State University caused by a student's Halloween outfit.
