Yasiel Puig Hits 2 Home Runs In Second Career MLB Game (VIDEO)

Yasiel Puig showed off his arm in his Major League debut. Then he showed off his bat in his second career game.

The 22-year-old Cuban rookie made history on Tuesday night, hitting two home runs and tallying five RBIs in the Dodgers' 9-7 win over the Padres. According to Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info), Puig is the first player since 1949 to hit two homers and record five RBIs within his first two career games.

The first homer came in the bottom of the fifth inning with two men on base and San Diego leading by three. Puig launched the first pitch he saw from Padres pitcher Clayton Richard into the left field stands for an estimated at 439 feet, per the Associated Press. The very next inning, he laced the second pitch he saw from pitcher Tyson Ross and hit an opposite-field homer to give the Dodgers a 9-6 lead.

“I’m glad I hit two home runs,” he said after the game, via the Associated Press. “I’m more happy because the team won.”

Last season, both Baltimore's Manny Machado and San Diego's Yasmani Grandal also had multi-homer games within their first two career games.
