I woke up feeling blah. There are reasons; sore back, heat getting to me, etc. There are reasons but really no excuses. I am one of those, like you, who works a little hard to accentuate the positive. I wasn't always that way. My former default mode was expecting the other shoe to drop. At one time, I really struggled to feel good. It was an old pattern. For example, I couldn't make enough money to feel successful, or I wasn't appreciated for my talents, and some times I really wanted something that someone else had, something that seemed to be out of my reach.

It was a long road for me to finally realize, I am successful with or without my bank account, the best use of my talents is using them in the job I am working in this moment, and while I admire what others have gained, I greatly appreciate what I have, especially my relationships. My newfound optimism didn't just come to me. I had help.

One of the people who helped me along the way is a woman from Texas, Graciela Zozaya. Graciela channels the nonphysical energy The Essence of All. (If you're new to the channeling stuff, here's my take: God did not stop talking two thousand or even 10,000 years ago. S/he is always available and Graciela is one of those special people who channels love from that Source. I am one who loves to soak it all in.) For a time, Graciela did a weekly phone channeling. One Saturday morning, I asked "How can I feel better?" "Why aren't I happy?" The Essence answered the questions. Those answers helped me so much, I need to share it. I collaborated with Graciela to create a book of channeled messages. It's called the "I am Beautiful" Journal. This is not a sales pitch! No need to buy the book, because here's the essence of the lesson:

"Make a list," they said. "Write down everything on that list that makes you feel beautiful. The things that make your heart sing. And do it every day for 3 weeks. After 21 days you will be a new person."

A new person? I'll get out of my funk? It's not possible, I thought. So, at first, I was out to prove them wrong. And I was also desperate to feel better, so I gave it a try.

I remember that first morning, I was struggling to find something that made me feel good, until I looked down. It was right at my finger tips. I did make a kick ax cup of coffee, just the right amount of milk, smooth. Then I proceeded with two or three things. Over the course of a few days, my list began to grow. I was appreciating my feet and my eyes; my husband and my children. My outlook began to change. And I was starting to feel good. Then after 14 days, something happened that got me spiraling down again, feeling crummy about myself. Somebody close to me said something to me that hurt my feelings. I kept at the journal and things eventually began to improve again.

So, here I am today, feeling blah. And I know it's a few short lists that will help me get back to Beautiful! Funny, when I finished the first 3 weeks, I thought I'd graduate and never have to revisit the journal. But feeling not so good does come around to haunt me sometimes, maybe it haunts you, too.

Today, I'm reminded that it might be time to pick up the tools in the I Am Beautiful Journal, and begin again.

Number one: the coffee -- still great. Smooth ...
2. I have eyes to see and fingers to type with...
3. I am grateful to have this opportunity to share what I've learned and also pick up tips from you.

I'll sign off now, and continue the list. I know I will be feeling better in no time. How about you? What makes your heart sing? Let me know in the comments. Feeling beautiful is contagious!
