Yukari Miyamae Won't Face Felony Charges For TSA Groping

UPDATE: No Felony Charges For TSA Groping Incident

Prosecutors have decided they will not press felony charges against a woman accused of groping a female Transportation Security Agent.

Longmont resident Yukari Miyamae, 61, allegedly grabbed and twisted the left breast of an agent with both hands after refusing to go through the passenger screening. She was then arrested at Phoenix's airport on the felony suspicion of sexual abuse.

Spokesman for the Maricopa County Attorney's Office Jerry Cobb told the Associated Press that Miyamae's case did not contain a sexual motivation element, which is required to prove a sexual abuse charge.

The Huffington Post reported that a Facebook Community page called "Acquit Yukari Miyamae," was created in support of Mihamae. It currently boasts over 3,000 fans.

Police say Miyamae admitted to grabbing the agent and continued to argue with officers before she was arrested.

On Twitter, Miyamae said, "Police statement and Fox coverage does not depict accurately what happened to me on July 14th at Phoenix Airport in Maricopa county, Arizona."

She thanked everyone for their support. Since the incident, she has grown into an urban folk hero for people who are unhappy about airport security procedures. Several Facebook pages are dedicated to her, her acquittal and her legal defense fund.
