Yunwoo Choi Creates Massive Textural Sculptures From Rolled Up Magazines (PHOTOS)

Incredible Sculptures Made From Rolled Up Magazines

Korean artist Yunwoo Choi uses magazines not for their beauty tips and trend forecasts but for their texture, colors and weight. We found this revamped reading material the other day on My Modern Met, and couldn't help but be amazed at these works.

Choi's astounding sculptures expand, coil and contract in mid-air, defying gravity with their unexpected geometries. Some take shapes that cannot be categorized, others compose portraits that are surprisingly realistic. From far away they look almost like distant views of a city skyline, but from up close you can make out glossy editorial spreads and makeup ads. In a recent interview, Choi cited his inspirations as inventive sculptors like Anish Kapoor and Tara Donovan, though we see him more in line with Jaqueline Lee's book sculptures.
