There are two reasons why the below Zac Efron quotes are funny. One, he thinks he's going to win an Academy Award after starring in "Dirty Grandpa." Two, it sounds like he Googles "zac efron shirtless pix" just as often as we do.
The perpetually undressed Efron spoke about his penchant for revealing scenes in a recent interview with Elle magazine. Admitting that his contracts might, in fact, have a shirtless Efron clause, the "High School Musical" actor further elaborated on his philosophy toward on-screen nudity.
"Let's just say I'm not opposed to anything," he said. "But if you're gonna pull your dick out, it'd better be for an Academy Award-winning movie."
But before he can walk up to the Oscars stage, Efron is focused on staying sober and getting his career back on track. In 2013, the former Disney star checked himself into rehab to seek treatment for alcoholism and substance abuse. Efron told Elle that the decision to address these issues not only gave his life structure, but also liberated him from worrying about how the public sees him.
"There was a moment when my morning routine was, like, 'Get up and Google yourself,'" he said. "But that stopped, dramatically and instantly, probably three years ago. I realized that viewing yourself through other people's pictures is not living your own life. I wasn't really being myself. A lot of my hobbies had gone out the window. I couldn't skateboard or surf for fear of being followed. Crossing the line of fear is what leads to greatness."
In fact, Efron says he only broke free from the "fear of being followed" once he came face to face with a shark in Hawaii. (#Casual)
"I could either turn and try to beat the shark to the boat, or I could look it in the eyes and let it know I'm present and I'm not afraid," he explained. "It went right past me, and I put my hand out and I actually rode the shark for 10 or 15 seconds."
Nevermind, give him that Oscar.
