Zach Wahls On David Letterman: 'My Two Moms' Author Talks Homophobia, Gay Marriage And Bullying (VIDEO)

WATCH: Zach Wahls Talks Homophobia, Gay Marriage And Bullying On 'Letterman'

"Gays messing up the sanctity of marriage? I think Kim Kardashian's doing an alright job of that herself."

So joked Zach Wahls during his Tuesday night appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman." The Iowa-based student, YouTube video sensation and HuffPost Gay Voices blogger is currently promoting his new book, "My Two Moms: Lessons of Love, Strength, and What Makes a Family," which is due out April 26, and spoke to Letterman about his personal experiences with homophobia and being bullied in school for having two lesbian moms.

"My moms, when they found out I was being picked on, sat me down and tried to explain...the important thing wasn't punishing the other kids, it was making sure I could stand up for myself," he said. "As kids got to know me personally and they got to know my moms, they found out there wasn't really anything to be scared of or to be picked on."

Wahls, whose impassioned pro-gay marriage speech to Iowa legislators became the most-watched political clip of 2011 on YouTube after going viral twice last year, will soon be taking his pro-LGBT message to the national level as co-chair for "The Outspoken Generation," the Family Equality Council's national youth advocacy initiative for young adult children of LGBT parents.
