Caused by a failing 90-year-old drain beneath the road, the sinkhole is spurring construction of a temporary bridge — and an impending $5 million permanent fix.
The National Service of Geology and Mining first became aware of the 650-foot-deep sinkhole on Saturday.
The 21,500-square-foot chasm swallowed three vehicles outside the Hospital of the Sea in Naples, Italy.
