Give me a minute to take my foot out of my mouth. This week's episode made me happy for a few reasons.
I cringed when I saw the name and promos for Black-ish. But, I tried to reserve judgment until I saw it. And sure enough, its premise and the actual show is as offensive as its name.
Holy, action. This episode was on a roll from the very beginning. To make sense of it all, and in honor of Bailey, I've blocked out this episode in groups of threes.
This show is always the best when the operating room is more of a backdrop for the drama and I present tonight's episode as exhibit A. Apologies for the legalese, but after an hour in that courtroom, I can't help it.
You can say what you want about this soapy, often silly, show, but there's something to be said for its gender dynamics. Sure, it relies on some tried and true stereotypes, but just when you think a character is going to fall into one, they make some moves to break through them.
You can't accuse ABC of playing it safe. The network is launching seven series early this fall, including four family comedies
