Ahmed Mohamed Talks About Meeting Obama
Go, Ahmed, go!
The media's focus in the Ahmed Mohamed story has been on Obama's invitation to the teenager to visit the White House. But the response is symptomatic of what America is prone to do: turn these kind of stories into a greeting card -- "Sorry you were profiled. Know that you are precious." That's just not enough anymore.
If the public makes it clear that it will not let politicians sit idly by while people continue to suffer needlessly, then perhaps one day we may look back at these tragedies as the catalyst that pushed the world to become a better place for all.
I'm not worried about Ahmed's record because of all the support he has behind him. What I'm worried about is that he has three more years of high school -- three more years of hate and shade from students. Ahmed, if you're reading this, I want you to know that from this you can make a change.
