A genius at both comedy and drama, Meryl Streep as an actress is an "intuitive investigator" of the human condition: insightful, powerful, and awe-inspiringly versatile. Here I present my five favorite Meryl Streep performances, in no particular order.
In a perfect world Meryl Streep would win her fourth Academy Award for "August: Osage County." If the Oscars were awarded for pure performance, I don't see how she could not win.
Rather than shrug it off as another expected Streep tour de force, marvel at the ability of this remarkable actress to touch you and affect your emotions like no one else.

Don't get me wrong. It's funny here and there. Funny as in this situation is so absurd/awkward it's funny. Funny as in biting humor with razor sharp teeth laced with tabasco sauce. And I love tabasco sauce.
During my 20-plus years on TV, I've witnessed my fair share of industry shenanigans. But the movie ads touting Golden Globe Awards winners, even though the winners have yet to be handed out, fall under the "idiot shenanigan" category.
