It may very well be the case that the Sultan doesn't care about the boycott and that it doesn't have a monetary impact on him. But that's not the point. We're doing it because it is the right thing to do, and if that means we may never go back to the hotel so long as we live, then so be it.

Do we really need tone-deaf shallowness coming from the heroic gay co-creator of one of the most significant and impactful gay comedies on television? For fluffy pancakes?
Inadvertent angels come in many sizes and shapes. They are not always angels of mercy, and -- as many can attest -- Lauren Bacall was no Mother Teresa. And yet there was at least one lesson to be learned from knowing her a little.
While I applaud those who are raising their voices against the Sultan of Brunei and his country's implementation of Sharia Law, I think there's an opportunity being missed. I'd love for those boycotting to be lions that roar at Brunei, not little mice that squeak at a hotel chain.
