Montreal's French-Canadian identity is hugely significant in making Montreal Montreal. Toronto has much to celebrate, and I do not wish to detract from that. But Montreal's wonders are utterly distinctive and frankly unique not only in Canada but globally.

I love soul food and sushi. Eve's Bayou and Gone with the Wind. Josephine Baker and Audrey Hepburn. Kanye West and Maroon 5. Some will accept it, some won't, but most importantly, I do.

e don't have to choose. We can immerse ourselves in our country's culture and hang on to our parents'. In the end, it gives us richer and fuller lives. We should embrace and celebrate that.

The 'New Generation Latino" of bilingual, bicultural Latinos want something different from their non-Latino counterparts.
