There's clearly a lot of room to improve upon the mess that's been created over the years with the various realignments. I would strongly urge the NCAA to start thinking about how these haphazard groupings of schools will affect their brands -- and its own organization -- in the long run.

Back to the future. The seven non-football schools in the Big East could break off and form their own conference. Those schools include Georgetown, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova, five of the original seven in the Big East.
I try to avoid the nostalgia trip, but I always find it hard during the Big East Tournament. Tonight's final four is Syracuse vs. Cincinnati, and Louisville vs. Notre Dame. Syracuse is the only original Big East team.
