While the absence of Black Muslim voices in political advocacy and interfaith organizing is notable, the most visible areas where Black American Muslims are missing is in media representation. Groups working in the field must take into account the ways in which their anti-islamophobia work alienates Black American Muslims.

What the black American Islamophobe needs to realize is that the anti-Muslim bias is not a means to full citizenship. It is just the newest boogey man deployed to distract us from demanding equitable change for all Americans.
