So, as another season of my life comes to a close and the realization of turning 60 on my next birthday hits me and the sadness and grief of those lost dreams and hopes seem to keep playing in my mind to the point of ... AWWWW HELL! LIFE IS GOOD!
The thing is that people need community support if they are going to break an addiction. The guilt and shame that comes from losing control creates a sense of isolation that only a supportive community can cure.
I knew that my generation of women has not achieved the empowerment that we dreamed of as girls.
In relationships, I prefer to be younger and cuter than my mate. Even just a year or two his junior somehow feels more comfortable, as illogical and sexist as that is. But it is. Because youth and its wingman -- beauty -- have power of their own, no matter how fleeting.
