I hope you will turn to your loved ones right now and acknowledge all that they have dealt with in loss. Notice their courage, their authenticity and witness their grief. They too have modeled for us so that we can all live to the fullest in 2016.

In corporate America, 88 percent of men think women have at least as many opportunities to advance as men. Yet when you look at the actual data, women's odds of advancement are 15 percent lower than men's. Why don't men see it?

I think when tragedy occurs, it presents a choice. You can give in to the void, the emptiness that fills your heart, your lungs, constricts your ability to think or even breathe. Or you can try to find meaning.

The bond we share is one of loss but it is also one of strength, courage, perseverance, and eventual, renewed living. I am certain -- given the choice -- each one of us would rather not have you walk amongst us, but since you are here, know that you have our spirit and example in which to hang onto throughout the entirety of your journey.

I don't believe this happened for a reason, but it has given us all a reason to be more present parents, more loving spouses, more supportive friends, and more caring leaders. The overwhelming sentiment from everyone who knew Dave is that he inspired us to be better human beings.
