dilation and evacuation

The state law, on hold since 2015, prohibits abortion by the dilation and evacuation, or D&E, method.
The Michigan House and Senate voted Tuesday to ban dilation and evacuation procedures, but Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) is planning an immediate veto.
The order applies only to dilation-and-evacuation procedures performed on women less than 18 weeks pregnant.
The law will force doctors to use a riskier procedure when performing abortions in the second trimester.
