I am drawn to powerful women who prefer pearls to diamonds, dresses to pants and pencil skirts to mini skirts. Some of these women are real. And some are fictional, such as Catherine Banning or Claire Underwood, who is my latest fashion obsession.
I'm exposed to a lot of "design." I have watched dozens of designers re-design broken homes. And while they do make those homes work better, they seem to rely on lots of slick finishes and design parlor tricks.
A lot happened at day two of New York Fashion Week. We’ve seen some great looks—from comfortable flats to bright lipstick, but the second day it was all about the bold brow.
Now that New York Fashion Week is over, the question still on insiders' minds is the one that was whispered repeatedly between shows: Is the industry over Fashion Week?
The tables have officially turned. The photographers outside shows are now better, more interestingly dressed than most of their subjects. Imagine a world where film directors might show up to set in full hair and makeup, not to mention in costume.
