It is hard to find a major religion or secular ideology that has not been used by some of its adherents to justify violence against others.

Judaism teaches that we welcome guests in homes. It is hard for us to expect our being treated, anywhere, as honored guests when extremists treat the Pope, our honored guest, with vandalism to churches.

No responsible organization should dignify intellectually disreputable and morally loathsome positions. There is enough to argue about without inviting the haters into the conversation.
