Gov. Kathy Hochul, who assumed office following Andrew Cuomo's resignation, is facing Democratic challengers from her left.
It's a significant stamp of approval for the progressive Democrat — and a big step for New York City socialists.
With reforms like these who'll be surprised by the next high-profile incident of police abuse? Not me.
Another day, another reminder from NYPD commissioner Bill Bratton that the era of "predictive policing", the orwellian idea that cops can predict crime, is already here. This wasn't the first time Bratton has openly talked about such a potentially controversial subject.
"Body cameras are a huge joke." That was one of the responses of Jewel Miller, mother of Eric Garner's one year old baby daughter, Legacy, to the body camera 'reform' ideas that were now being further embraced around the country after the videotaped shooting death of Walter Scott in South Carolina earlier this month.
Cops will never reform themselves. The attempts to bring them closer to us by quite literally packaging us in this same, tired concept of 'community policing' is a spin that no one seeking justice should fall for.
