Our prison system serves to isolate people, cut people off from the world. This is doubly true for LGBT people of faith.

Far too many lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning youth who encounter the juvenile justice system are placed in facilities that fail to address past experiences of trauma or where they are at risk for sexual violence.

It is absolutely critical that the Obama administration act to address this devastating problem by ensuring that all immigration detainees, including those who are LGBT, are covered under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).
