As Father's Day approaches and we think of our dads and all they mean or meant to us, I say a silent prayer that my father has finally found the peace that he never seemed to enjoy in this life.

We still have many millions -- and their numbers are growing -- who face the threat of hunger on any given day. The Old Face of Hunger, unlike the younger one, has no way out. There is no job waiting for the 87-year-old.

Hunger is not a spectator sport. Our Super Bowl is emptying of the ingredients necessary to sustain life for millions of hungry seniors. We can't wait 'til next year. Our time is running out.

I know that by the Year 2045, there will be more adults on this earth than children. This phenomenon will be a first in the history of the world. In fact, all of civilization is getting older. We are it. We are the generation of now. The generation of older Americans.
