The 21st annual "Headlines & Headliners" was a star-studded benefit.
It is the 25th Anniversary of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) Convention and Career and Community Expo, the 11th LGBT Media Summit and it is in San Francisco September 3rd through 6th.
Collins stated he thought about coming out during the lockout in 2011 when he had time on his hands and after seeing an "It Gets Better Video" his trainer did.
People of color are still in the minority in the United States and a even smaller percentage in the workforce. Ergo, any time there is a journalism conference not specifically labeled as, for people of color, it will be attended predominately by white folks.
I thought part of the mission of NLGJA was to talk to colleagues about how news is covered so it doesn't wind up being antigay. What's the point of having an NLGJA Style Guide when there's no substance behind the style?
It's June, that month more or less identified with weddings -- and Rainbow Pride -- and we seem to have been busily courting a new generation to embrace gay marriage.
