I don't think this is a bad thing. I believe that if you've always had a big nose and hated being taunted for it, there was nothing wrong with having it adjusted to make you feel better about yourself. If you have "Obama" ears, and they bother you, get them fixed, and if you have wrinkles, and you don't like looking old, get a face lift.

My Boston Terrier, Ma'amie, is 14.5 years old. If you know about dogs, then you know that this is actually quite old for a Boston Terrier. Up until a year ago, it was difficult to guess her age. Yes, she went prematurely grey, but she's been an athlete her whole life, and her passion for the tennis ball fueled her energy.
Sometimes I think when we exchange those little glances and giggles about our dear old loved ones -- even when they show us glimpses of brilliance -- the joke is really on us. Maybe when we reach the age of "old," in between the crazy babbling and the far-off stares, we know exactly what we're doing, and what we're teaching.
