U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves struck down a law that bans abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected.
″It could have been much worse,” Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant said in a news conference.
The law would prevent women from having abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

On Monday evening a crowd of more than a thousand Mississippians gathered in front of the Governor's Mansion for a rally urging the state's Republican governor, Phil Bryant, to veto the so-called "Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination" bill.
His Democratic opponent was a truck driver who spent only $3,000 on his campaign.
