Portland Museum of Art
Two exhibits of my work, Oil and Water and Re/Viewing the American Landscape are currently on view at Blue Water Fine Arts in Port Clyde, Maine. I've been spending summers painting in Maine for close to forty years and exhibiting there for over thirty.
I started thinking about this in Maine, during a visit to the Black Point Inn. Viewing the sunset over the ocean from a sprawling porch with a glass of wine in hand was great but it was the people there who made it special.
It is still not too late to see Maine Sublime: Frederic Church's Landscapes of Mount Desert and Mount Katahdin -- a gem of a small exhibit which closes October 27th
After catching the morning Jet Blue flight from JFK to Portland, I hopped in a taxi and within 20 minutes I was at the Black Point Inn in the exclusive, seaside community of Prouts Neck.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
WHAT'S HAPPENING
One of the mysteries of the arts is how an artist becomes an artist. We know that very few trained and talented visual artists actually make careers in the arts. Seeing all of this for so long I am encouraged by some positive trends.
