The State Department now recognizes the citizenship of babies born abroad to same-sex married couples, even if an American parent is not genetically related.
For some in the LGBT community, determining how they can start or even grow their families with the help of fertility experts is a process sometimes fraught with obstacles. I'm happy to say that in my nearly 30 years as a fertility doctor, third-party reproductive options have come a long way.
Gohmert asked "if you could decide what 40 people you put on the spacecraft that would save humanity, how many of those would be same-sex couples?" Less than a year after he made those remarks, a plan was hatched to send exactly 40 gay people into space to put his hypothesis to the test.
History has shown us that people will fight for love's integrity, even when it is against popular opinion, violating both state and federal laws, and possibly causing them their lives.

This MLK holiday reminds me how Alabama has always been a troubling state when it comes to upholding the civil rights of its denizens.
