Awake and asleep all at once and lying on my side on a hard bed, slowly waking. I had no clue where I was, a sensation so familiar as to remove any tartness. Instead, I was blasé about discovering where now had I landed.
There has always been a misconception about how authors of certain genres should look. Romance? Sweet, pretty, and passionate about falling in love. Erotica? Sexy, eyes filled with hot sexual passion, and slightly devilish. Horror? Grim, dangerous, attractive but scary.

Welcome to our annual frightfest! Each year we crank up the special effects soundtrack and present our very own scary stories for both sides of the political aisle. This year's presidential campaign is frightening enough, no matter where you sit on the political spectrum.

I was about six years old when this happened, but my recollection of what I'm about to write is crystal clear. It doesn't have the same fuzzy, uncertain quality that childhood memories sometimes have. I know for a fact that I didn't dream it. I will never forget the thing I saw.
