sexism in the music industry
I've been called a whore, a tease, a groupie, a sycophant and everything in between. That sh*t is not ok, but I'm guessing none of it is news for any woman who works in a male-dominated field.
At least eight women have now accused a prominent music publicist of harassment.
Female artists, particularly pop musicians, are continually defined within parameters that are practically impossible to satisfy: Not too sexy but not too prudish, not too aggressive but not too meek, not too serious or smart but not too fun or "dumb." And it sets them up to "fail."
