transgender in the military
The United States and United Kingdom certainly have different attitudes towards transgender service members.
While the notion that transgenderism is mainly if not entirely a medical condition may have helped remove a little bit (though certainly not much) of the stigma attached to being a trans person, it also limits us. And it will limit the military.
There is a price to be paid for having a narrow trade space for ideas. When we get used to seeing and hearing only one side of things, it numbs us to the fact there are a lot of perspectives out there which are very much different from our own.
