While the intent of 'Yes Means Yes' is admirable -- and certainly more communication about and around sex is not a bad thing -- government seeking to regulate sex, or any other act, on such a micro level is a symptom of a culture marked by extreme over-parenting -- and it is dangerously enabling.

Why should not sex premised on mutuality, respect and joint agreement -- rather than sex premised on pressure, intimidation, and acquiescence -- be an administratively-endorsed, and administratively-enforced standard?

While the best way to get consent is verbally, it's not the only option. Yes, consent can be and given and received through other cues such as body language and reciprocation. Yes, can be given in other ways.
