Once upon a time, she was a pint-size toddler called Chrissy Seaver on the TV show "Growing Pains." Now, Ashley Johnson is a 29-year-old actress in the Joss Whedon-directed Shakespeare adaptation of "Much Ado About Nothing," opening today (June 7) in theaters.
Johnson got her acting debut at just age 6, when she starred in two seasons of the hit ABC series, which also co-starred Alan Thicke, Kirk Cameron and, briefly, a young Leonardo DiCaprio. She later moved on to other acting gigs on both the small screen and the big screen, including stints on "Roseanne," "What Women Want" and, in 2009, the television show "Dollhouse." The latter was perhaps her first introduction to Whedon, who later cast her in the 2012 summer blockbuster "The Avengers."
THEN: With the cast of "Growing Pains," in 1990.
NOW: On the red carpet for "Much Ado About Nothing," in 2013.
