The quality of life on the planet, its ecosystem, and human health, depend on water. It is widely accepted that water will be the "oil" of the 21st century. But, unlike oil, the planet cannot survive without water.
The label "rogue state" mistakes the essence of the state for its actions. These nations are in a troubled and precarious state of mind. They are full of self-doubt, prone to rash action, and easily insulted.
We are lucky. After eight years of Republican appeals to our naivete it is refreshing to be talked to as adults on TV by political leaders.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
Until we delve deeper into the mind-body connection, the future of medicine may seem to lie with genetic manipulation, but simpler, less invasive and far less expensive treatments could be at our fingertips.
As a scientist, I love the challenge of understanding my mind, from the inside, while learning what science tells us from the outside. The merging of the two will yield knowledge far greater than either can alone.
