Michael Bublé’s son Noah has been reportedly diagnosed with liver cancer.

The Canadian singer’s sister-in-law, Daniela Lopilato, confirmed the news to Argentinian magazine Gente and revealed that the three-year-old has already started chemotherapy.

“Cancer is a horrible illness but we have faith in Noah being able to overcome this,” she said. “We know he will. The time to start a long and very difficult treatment has come but it’s got to be done. They say children are normally strong to put up with chemotherapy and my nephew is a warrior.”

According to Gente, Noah was diagnosed on November 1 after undergoing a liver biopsy. His chemotherapy treatment is expected to last four months.

Liver cancer is rare in kids and teens, and there are two types: hepatoblastoma and hepatocellular carcinoma. The former usually affects children under three years old, and the latter usually affects children older than 14 years old, according to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund.

Bublé and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, first broke the news that Noah has cancer last week. On Friday, the couple released a statement saying, “We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the US.”

The couple also announced that they would be putting their careers on hold “to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well.” Bublé has now officially cancelled his performance at the BBC Music Awards on Dec. 12 so he can focus his attention on his family.

Besides Noah, Bublé and Lopilato are also parents to a nine-month-old son named Elias.
