This week marks National Spring Cleaning Week. Each day, The Huffington Post Canada Style team will give you tips on how to organize the most used spaces in your home.

It's the space where we sit, read, shower and, for some of us, send a few texts to our best friend. But when you consider all the soap scum, bacteria and hair (long and short), the idea of scrubbing down the bathroom seems less than appealing.

"Most Canadians hate cleaning, but they love the feeling of a clean home. I always encourage people to figure out a schedule to clean and find the right tools. If you have cheap tools you're wasting your time," says Melissa Maker, entrepreneur and cleaning expert of Clean My Space in Toronto.

For the final day of our spring cleaning series, here are 10 quick tips to clean and organize the washroom.

Nobody Likes Toilets(01 of10)

We crave a toilet when nature calls, but when it comes to keeping it squeaky clean, we'd rather assign someone else to do the task for us. One quick way to get your toilet clean is dropping in a few denture tablets to de-scale, deodorize and disinfect your bowl. Leave the tablets in for 10 minutes and use a scrubber brush to wipe it clean. Oh, and don't forget to flush. (credit:Alamy)
Shower Heads(02 of10)

The shower head is another unexciting area to clean. One quick tip Marker recommends is filling a small plastic bag with white vinegar and tying it around your shower head with an elastic band. Leave the bag on overnight and the next morning the tool will be as good as new. (credit:Alamy)
Declutter Your Products(03 of10)

Soaps, shampoos and cosmetic products all have a lifeline of their own. During spring cleaning, check the expiry dates of your bottles. Shampoo and conditioner usually can last three years, anti-aging and acne cream can go for three months to a year, and mascara and eyeliner usually has a shelf life of three to four months. Bathtub And Tiles(04 of10)

Oh the dreaded bathtub. Soap scum is a waxy and greyish build-up that can form around your tiles and tubs over time. To get your tubs and tiles clean, mix a 50 per cent white vinegar and 50 per cent liquid soap combination and use a scratch-free scrubber to wipe down your surfaces. For higher spots, use an extending scrubber. (credit:Alamy)
Tip: Always Close The Lid(05 of10)

Besides putting down the toilet seat, another rule is to always close the lid. When you flush, bacteria and particles from the bowl can become airborne and, well, land on any surface -- including your toothbrush (so, ahem, bad breath won't be the only problem to worry about in the morning). Ceilings(06 of10)

Bathroom ceilings are often left untouched during the year. To reach high surfaces, use a vacuum pole to clean your dusty vents and fans. (credit:Alamy)
Scrub That Grout(07 of10)

Grout is another surface most people tend to avoid. For a simple cleaning solution, mix baking soda and water until you get a toothpaste-like texture. Outline your grout lines on tiles and let it sit for 15 minutes. Once it's dry, wash your tiles with water and a cloth. (credit:Alamy)
Get Creative(08 of10)

One fun way to organize bathroom essentials is to use magnetic strips. Pick some up for your local hardware store and stick them onto your bathroom cabinet doors. Feel free to stick on tweezers, nail cutters and scissors and anything else that will stay put, too. (credit:Alamy)
Bathroom Rugs And Liners(09 of10)

Shower liners and mats can grow mildew over time. You can easily throw them into your washing machine with white towels and laundry detergent to get a quick clean. Remember, don't throw anything made of plastic in the dryer. If you have a bathroom rug, make sure you wash it at least once a year. (credit:Alamy)
Light Bulbs(10 of10)

Changing light bulbs and cleaning light fixtures is another great way to spring clean your bathroom. Tip: use warm water and dish soap to gently clean your fixtures. (credit:Alamy)
