Face it, Bella. The staycation is not for you. An island paradise or mountain getaway, sipping cocktails while wiggling your toes in the surf and basking in the sunset and, oh, what the hell, slipping off your clothes off -- that's more your style. Completely exposed, yet refreshingly private. Some of the most beautiful places in the world to be naked while vacationing are out there, just waiting for you to visit.

We believe that sun, sand and seclusion complete the winning formula for a sexy nudist vacation -- but go beyond the beach and nude vacationing becomes a journey of discovery. Some of the world's sexiest hangouts are overtly hedonistic while others are refreshingly laidback. If you're ready to throw in the towel on vacation planning, we highly recommend throwing off your clothes instead.

1. Nude cruising -- Bare Necessities Tour & Travel

Imagine packing for a 14 day cruise and fitting everything into a neat little carry-on. Bare Necessities specializes in nude cruising, whether it's a grand tour of the Mediterranean or a Caribbean sightseeing cruise. The 3,000 or so guests are encouraged to indulge in nudity throughout the ship but clothing is required for dinning and when the ship docks in port. As well, guests need to be clothed for shore excursions but many of the ports of call feature stops at nude beaches. Double win. 2. Nude mineral spa -- Living Waters, Palm Spring

If you visit Living Waters Spa, plan to soak, lounge and repeat. It's a modest, subline resort in the shadow of San Jacinto Mountain. The water in the pools at Living Waters is fed from a private spring at a rate of 15-20 gallons per minute and is straight from the earth's mantle. It's naturally heated and free from chemicals (no need for chlorine with this rapid exchange rate). Go for the healing waters or just the opportunity to hang out naked while disconnecting from the rest of the world or for the world class massages. No judgment. 3. Nude camping -- Bare Oaks, Canada

Just 45 minutes north of Toronto you'll discover a natural wilderness resort with camping facilities, guest rooms to rent, bistro, pool, hot tub and spring-fed lake with lots of trails to stroll au naturel. Bare Oaks promotes a pure naturist philosophy and requires complete nudity while onsite. There's a small bistro onsite but we recommend bringing your own alcohol and foods. 4. Nude Mexican resort -- Desire, Mexico

Desire is a lifestyle resort and an intensely physical and emotional experience. If you and your partner are anchored together and looking for sizzle, a visit to this decadently beautiful property can be a meeting of motivations and an exploration of sensuality. But we don't recommend this for couples who are on shaky ground and don't take time to connect with each other before leaving home. 5. Nude Caribbean resort -- Club Fantastico

We're long-time fans of Club Orient in St. Martin but Club Fantastico has us intrigued. Facing the sea on the hill of Orient Bay (with an amazing view), there are only 6 rooms in this boutique naturist hotel. While breakfast and alcoholic drinks are served daily, there's no restaurant onsite. Bikini Beach is a 15 minute walk and Orient Beach is another 10 minutes further so you'll need to rent a car or rely on taxis if you visit. 6. Nude Mediterranean resort -- Hotel Panorama

Although technically a hotel, we think of Hotel Panorama as resort -- yes, it's that beautiful. This Greek, family run hotel and nudist destination since 2010, has 31 rooms, 3 apartments and 1 bungalos. You'll find it in village of Vassilikos on the island of Zakynthos -- an area almost completely untouched by tourism. Visit them online: Hotel Panorama.

7. Nude event -- Maslin Beach, Australia

8. Nude hotel -- Ventana, Big Sur, California

While the entire hotel isn't nude-friendly, the pool and poolside are clothing optional. Good enough for us. The rest of the hotel is an idyllic getaway, with wood burning fireplaces, balconies that overlook 243 acres of rolling meadows and wooded hillsides. Oh and don't forget the luxurious spa that's designed to soothe your tired and weary sole. If you go, save your pennies -- rates range from $600 a night to more than $2,000. 9. Mediterranean nude beach -- Plage de Tahiti

Located in the St. Tropez area of France, this gem of a beach is accessible via an unpaved road but according to TripAdvisor reviewers, it's worth the trek. Like most beaches in the area, it's small and frequented by celeberities but be forewarned -- it's topless beach but not necessarily a fully nude beach.

10. Nude hot springs -- Strawberry Park

Perched in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, you'll find Strawberry Park in Hot Springs -- a short drive from Steamboat. Temperatures in the pools run as hot as 104F -- a nice prelude to a delish massage and a great night's sleep in their rustic lodging or in your own tent. The area is only nudist by night and operates off the grid, which means you'll need a flashlight to travel between the 4 springs. From Hip To Shore: Collins Beach, Sauvie Island, Oregon(03 of26)

Located on the Columbia River, this beach attracts plenty of hipsters from nearby Portland. And if you’ve ever visited that lovely city, you know that standing out in a crowd is a popular urban pastime. You can spot those from Portlandia by their multiple piercings (face and other parts) and full sleeves (of tattoos, that is). Dawn To Dusk: San Gregorio, California(04 of26)

This teeny tiny town is famous mainly because of its nude beach – possibly the oldest in the United States. It’s about a kilometre long, stretching along the rugged coastline of the Pacific. It draws free spirits from San Francisco who like to body surf in the waves and linger later the sun puts on a spectacular show as it sets. Buff Stuff: Crystal Crescent, Halifax(05 of26)

Haligonians know how to party. The city boasts some of the best pubs in Canada and it has a clothing optional beach within its reach. No worries about tan lines or bikini waxes here. Wrecked Beach? Vancouver, B.C.(06 of26)

Yes, we know. It’s Wreck Beach, but given the current state of things, Wrecked Beach, located 465 steps off Marine Drive, might be more apropos. The RCMP announced that it will be cracking down on the devil-may-care behaviour that may happen on the beloved, out-of-the-way beach. Black Is Back: Kehena, Hawaii(07 of26)

Thank the volcanic activity of the Big Island for the jet-black sands of this nude beach, tucked away from the throngs of tourists. While pretty to look it, it gets super freaking hot in the middle of the summer. Pack flip flops or water shoes so you can stroll along the shore without feeling like your feet are in flames. Cold As Ice: Baker Beach, San Francisco(08 of26)

Ever since the hippy dippy days of the 1960s, the uninhibited have come to this picturesque beach, located in the Presidio. The views of the Golden Gate Bridge are downright spectacular. Sun bathing, not bathing alone, is the pursuit of choice here. Mixed Match: O’Brien Beach, Meech Lake, Quebec(09 of26)

On the north-east section of Meech Lake (yes, the famous place where amendments to the Canadian Constitution were made in 1987 by PM Brian Mulroney), clothes shunners and textile lovers share a pristine stretch of beach. Paradise Beach (aka Bare Ass Beach) has been a favourite among Saskatchewan nudists for many years. It’s tucked off Valley Road, about 20 kilometres south of Saskatoon, where as many as 300 to 500 people come to the beach on a single day at the height of summer. Split Decisions: Beaconia Beach, North Of Winnipeg(11 of26)

Nude or prude? This beach on Lake Winnipeg has sections that cater to both. Nudity happens about 50 kilometres from Winnipeg at this serene spot. Watch for the big log stretched across the sand which locals know divide the two sections of the beach. The sand along this 1.5 kilometre stretch of sand is soft and inviting. This dazzling beach is actually run by the government – one of a handful in the United States – with tax dollars hard at work to preserve its beauty. The naked and the au naturel will find crystal clear water and sugary soft, clean sand to play in. When you’re done galavanting and showing off your stuff, Bal Harbour nearby hosts plenty of luxury boutiques and posh eateries. If you want to do more than splash in the waves and work on your tan-line-free sunbathing, then try Ågesta. It’s a short bus ride from Stockholm where you can get active biking and hiking. Nude, Not Lewd, In Portugal(14 of26)

Those looking for budget-friendly European destinations should take a closer peek at Portugal, which offers great value these days. Skinny dippers have plenty of options there, too, especially in the Algarve. It has two official CO (clothing optional) beaches and plenty of non-official ones. While Germany many not have as much coastline as some other European countries, it has some terrific nude beaches. On the island of Sylt, one of the Frisian Islands (located in the North Sea), tourists and locals alike flock to “the St. Tropez of Germany.” Buhne 16 is where the naturists hang out. As one of Europe’s longest naturist beach, Linguizzetta is a perfect stop while on Corsica, France. There are wild llamas, butterscotch-coloured rock formations and a eucalyptus forest, providing other things to look at if you’re tempted to stare. More Stud Than Dud In Dorset(17 of26)

So much for the perception of the Brits being prim and proper… Studland (seriously) Beach in Dorset proves otherwise. Managed by the National Trust, it’s routinely listed among the best beaches in Britain. The section called Knoll Beach is well loved for its fine sand and sprawling nature reserve. Filaki Beach is the only “official” nude beach on the Greek island of Crete, but shunning swim wear is accepted widely everywhere. This particular beach isn’t the picture perfect sand that you see in the Caribbean. It’s made up instead of small pebbles that can be a bit rough of tender tootsies. There’s a youthful vibe to Bellevue Beach, Klapenburgh, less than 10 km from Copenhagen. The beach pulses with loud, booming music and its close proximity to the city means a flux of visitors on sunny weekends.
