The Rawtarian

You may have heard of the raw food diet, but if you haven't investigated it, you might not know the meaning of the term. Raw food recipes consist of anything that is not cooked above 44°C (111 °F). Essentially, at this temperature the food you eat, according The Raw Food Kitchen, still has all of its enzymes intact, resulting in a healthier and more nutritious meal.

If you're looking for a new way to eat your fruits and vegetables, raw food cooking not only lets you play with texture and taste, but you'll also be able to make everything from snacks to dessert. And you won't be using a pan of any sort either — raw cooking uses blenders, food processors or dehydrators exclusively.

Sticking exclusively to a raw food diet can be very hard for newbies, particularly if you're not planning your meals in advance. But even opting for uncooked, unprocessed and often organic food once in a while can result in more fibre and vitamins in your diet. So why not try it out as a snack this week?

And in case you missed it, last week we packed dark chocolate.

Here's what you need to buy this week, while the other necessary ingredients (like pepper, salt and oils) are likely already in your kitchen.
