Roll Up The Rim Car Grand Prize Goes To Winnipeg Student

She's the envy of Canada right now.

Canadians are usually excited enough to win small Tim HortonsRoll Up the Rim prizes such as doughnuts or coffee.

It's a rare feat to take major prizes such as cars, tablets or gift cards.

Shelby Leclerc can count herself among the lucky ones. The student at Red River College in Winnipeg has won a 2015 Toyota Camry XSE, Global News reported.

The car was considered the grand prize in the 2015 Roll Up the Rim contest, as only 47 are available to be won in Canada, said Tim Hortons' website.

Leclerc had a one in 6,277,259 chance of winning, it added.

The student in Red River College's educational assistant program learned she was a grand prize winner when she rolled a rim on Feb. 6 ... and it happened just after she and her boyfriend had bought a new car, she told student newspaper The Projector.

Leclerc said loved ones were happy about her win, but a number of friends were jealous.

"A lot of them were just like, 'Oh, you're richer than I am. I deserved that more than you did.' It's something that I just couldn't bring up because people would get upset about it," she told the newspaper.

But Leclerc isn't the only student at Red River who came up lucky in Tim Hortons' annual contest. Another student, Rachelle Poole, almost threw out her cup before she noticed she'd won a $100 gift card.

Both came up luckier than Samantha Burke, a Clarenville, N.L. woman who also won a $100 gift card, only to throw away the part of the cup with a PIN on it, so she couldn't claim her prize.

She later received a gift card from the location where she bought her cup anyway.
