The Screen Actors Guild Awards are like the middle-child of the awards-show family: on the one hand, they tend to fly under the radar compared to the Oscars or Golden Globes, but on the other hand, they aren't as uptight as their older, bigger siblings, and they'll often surprise you with a good zinger or two. Luckily for us, all those qualities apply to the SAG red carpet too.

This year's crop of frocks was a refreshing departure from the sea of beige we saw at the Golden Globes -- there was colour, gosh darn it, and there was texture too. Some stars may have already secured their spots on the best-dressed and worst-dressed lists, but what about those in-betweens?

We think those quirky details and zany getups are just screaming for some recognition, so in that vein, we present the SAG Style Awards That Didn't Make The Cut. Because everyone needs props for their donut-shaped earrings once in a while. Right, Angie?

Best Upstaging Of Your Ridiculously Handsome Date: Stacey Kiebler(01 of14)

We really dig the fact that George doesn't give a hoot that Stacey is taller than him, or worry that she looks more stunning than him in her Marchesa gown. We think George's confidence stems from knowing that Stacey could probably pin him on the red carpet in a matter of seconds, and we like that about her.George Clooney (L) and Stacey Keibler arrive at the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California on January 29, 2012. Best Matchy-Matchy: Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski(02 of14)

You know back in high school when you'd get to class and realize you and your bestie had dressed in practically the same outfit, and it was kinda awesome because you looked like you were in a gang? Same deal here. Tina Fey (L) and Jane Krakowski arrive at the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 29, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. Best Sofia Vergara Impression: Lea Michele(03 of14)

After Glee wraps, Vergara better watch out for random Lea Michele cameos on Modern Family. Especially if she shows up as the long-lost Colombian evil sister. Best Use Of Sunglasses On The Red Carpet: Jessica Lange(04 of14)

Used to be no one but Mickey Rourke and Steven Segal would sport shades on the red carpet. This look says, "Maybe I was out partying all night and came to the awards straight from the bar, and maybe I wasn't." It's Jessica Lange, people -- she's so awesome that as far as we're concerned, she can do whatever she darn well pleases. Most Menacing Accessory: Emma Stone(05 of14)

Emma looked lovely in her mid-length gown -- but it's her clutch that we're really taken with. There's something about it that's just so street -- at first glance, we thought the handle was a really fancy four-finger/brass knuckles ring. The whole effect is something like: "Try and steal my clutch and I will take you down, buddy."Actress Emma Stone arrives at the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 29, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. Best Midnight Blue Ensemble: Christopher Plummer(06 of14)

It's possible we're being a little generous here -- Plummer's jacket could very well be a shade of purple. But midnight blue sounds far more dashing -- and really, is there a Canadian more dashing than Plummer? Maybe Trudeau. Maybe.Actor Christopher Plummer arrives at the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 29, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. Loving the black on black on black on black here, Nick. You're like a Johnny Cash/St. Nick mash-up.Actor Nick Nolte arrives at the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 29, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images) (credit:Getty)
Best Mae West Ensemble: Glenn Close(08 of14)

This gown is so old-school Hollywood. We love the mermaid tail and sheer sleeves, and at its best, it's just a little bit goth. You can just imagine Close storming off with a grand swish of her tail after some uber-dramatic altercation with Helen Mirren at the afterparty. Second-Best Star Wars Inspired Outfit: Kristen Wiig(12 of14)

Kristen looks like Carrie Fisher in this photo even without the collar, but with the collar? Get that girl a metal bikini and set her up next to Jabba at the SAG Awards dinner. Best Haute Couture Tank Top: Zoe Saldana(13 of14)

It might look a little bit casual, but we love the sheer-top-over-tank effect in this Givenchy Haute Couture gown. The details in the dress set it off, and the whole thing looks edgy, classy and cool.Actress Zoe Saldana arrives at the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 29, 2012 in Los Angeles, California.
