Super Bowl 50 T-Mobile Ad Has Drake Turning His Back On Canada

Clearly, he forgot about our hotline.
|

"You used to call me on my cellphone" ... until hidden fees and extra data charges shot that dream in the foot.

In this T-Mobile Super Bowl ad, Drake handed his hit "Hotline Bling" over to a trio of nefarious execs from an unspecified mobile phone company.

They punctuated his catchy single with several stipulations and disclaimers about their wireless service:

"When you say 'Call me on my cellphone,' just add: 'Device eligible for upgrade after 24 months,'" which Drake OKs.

Another exec adds, "Also, you need to include that streaming music will incur data charges."

They even had him turn his back on the 6ix and the rest of Canada, adding, "After 'going places you don't belong' add Mexico and Canada are not included."

Drake complies, answering, "I've told a lot of people I'm from Canada, but I lied."

The three go down the list, remixing the song, and in the end, a voice over plugs the American T-Mobile as the carrier to pick instead.

Lucky for him, Canadians weren't privy to American ads during the Super Bowl 50 game, but he certainly has some explaining to do now that this ad has officially aired, and hit the Internet.

According to Fortune, all 30-second Super Bowl 50 ad spots cost roughly $5-million each.
