Eat Yourself Skinny

We officially declare sweet potatoes as the best variety of potatoes -- yeah, we went there. With so much flavour, versatility and health benefits to offer, it's no surprise people are cooking with this potato for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. About 3 and 1/2 ounces of sweet potato (or 1 1/2 cup of shredded sweet potato) has 140 calories, 15 per cent of your daily vitamin A and 47 per cent of your daily vitamin C, according to WebMD.

And besides all the other vitamins they offer -- like vitamin D and B6 -- sweet potatoes are also a good source of carotenoids like beta carotene (which makes them orange). Carotenoids are good for your eyesight, can help fight cancer and the effects of aging, according to Care2.com. And while they may look similar to yams, yams are not sweet potatoes!

In case you missed it, last week we packed meatballs.

Here's what you need to buy this week, while the other necessary ingredients (like pepper, salt and oils) are likely already in your kitchen.
