On Friday, the popular torrent search engine Torrentz.eu called it quits and was shut down. Now, its clone has appeared on the Internet. The new website is called Torrentz2.eu.

The message on this mirror website pays an homage to Torrentz.

Torrentz2.eu is a clone of Torrentz, a free, fast and powerful meta-search engine combining results from dozens of search engines We will always love you Torrentz. Goodbye.

Torrentz.eu which was in service since 2003 made an abrupt end shocking the whole community. The final message on the website was 'Torrentz will always love you. Farewell'.

If you go to the website now you'd be treated with the message "Torrentz was a free, fast and powerful meta-search engine combining results from dozens of search engines". The founders of the website have declined to comment.

Last month, the alleged owner of KickAss torrent was arrested and the website was taken down. Within days the mirror website was up. Also, the tight-knit community of KAT made another website called Karcr.co. Although this website doesn't host any of the torrents.

Most of the mirrors including the famous Kat.am are just wrappers around other services. So the original website is nowhere to be seen. In fact, Kat.am relies on the searches of another torrent giant The Pirate Bay.

In the past year, the crackdown on the content hosting websites has been heavy. In 2015, two of the biggest content distributors on torrent EZTV and YIFY were shut down abruptly.

This year has seen the dawn of KickAss torrent, Torrentz.eu and Solar movie.
