CALGARY - La police de Calgary enquêtant sur la disparition d'un garçon âgé de cinq ans et de ses grands-parents a affirmé qu'un incident violent était survenu dans la maison où les trois personnes ont été vues pour la dernière fois, dimanche dernier.

Selon Doug Andrus, sergent d'état-major de l'escouade des homicides, la police a trouvé des éléments de preuve médico-légale à la maison des grands-parents, mais n'en a pas précisé la nature.

En conférence de presse, vendredi, M. Andrus a affirmé que l'examen de cette preuve devrait permettre une meilleure compréhension de ce qui s'est passé dans cette demeure, tout en ajoutant croire que «quelqu'un» se trouve en situation d'«urgence médicale».

Nathan O'Brien, cinq ans, et ses grands-parents, Alvin et Kathy Likness, ont été portés disparus lundi matin par la mère du garçon. Nathan passait la nuit chez ses grands-parents, qui avaient tenu une vente de déménagement durant le week-end.

M. Andrus a indiqué qu'il n'y avait pas de signes d'entrée par effraction, et que la police ignorait toujours les motifs derrière ces disparitions.

L'affaire est toujours traitée comme un cas de personnes disparues, et l'alerte Amber, déclarée lundi, est toujours en vigueur.

«Je ne peux pas entrer dans les détails sur ce que nous avons trouvé dans la maison, a-t-il soutenu. Nous continuons d'examiner les informations et nous sommes encore confiants de retrouver ces personnes vivantes.»

La police de Calgary est également à la recherche d'un camion et de son conducteur dans le cadre de l'enquête sur la disparition du garçon et de ses grands-parents.

Un camion se trouvait dans le périmètre où les trois personnes ont été vues pour la dernière fois.

Le véhicule recherché est un camion Ford F-150 vert datant de la fin des années 1980 ou du début des années 1990, en très bon état.

La police ne qualifie pas le conducteur de suspect, mais estime qu'il pourrait avoir de l'information sur les personnes disparues.

M. Andrus a précisé par ailleurs que les agents s'étaient entretenus avec environ 75 personnes ayant participé à la vente de déménagement organisée par les grands-parents. La police espère en rencontrer encore davantage.

Les agents ont aussi reçu des centaines d'indices de gens à travers le pays au cours des derniers jours. M. Andrus a affirmé que les enquêteurs travaillaient avec d'autres corps policiers au pays et à l'étranger.

«Nous avons encore beaucoup de travail à faire, et beaucoup de questions restent sans réponses», a évoqué M. Andrus.
