Bell Canada a conclu une entente avec le Bureau de la concurrence au sujet de la mise en ligne de critiques anonymes favorables faites par ses employés au sujet des applications mobiles du géant des télécommunications.

En vertu de l'accord, qui prévoit que Bell (TSX:BCE) paiera une amende de 1,25 million $ en guise de sanction administrative, la société "s'est engagée à ne pas ordonner à ses employés ou à ses entrepreneurs d'évaluer, de classer ou de critiquer les applications dans les boutiques qui en vendent", a annoncé mercredi le Bureau de la concurrence.

L'affaire remonte à novembre 2014, lorsque certains employés de Bell ont été encouragés à rédiger des critiques positives des applications gratuites MonBell Mobile et Mon compte de Virgin sur le magasin en ligne d'Apple, iTunes, et sur celui de Google, Google Play.

Ceux-ci se sont exécutés sans dévoiler qu'ils étaient des employés de Bell, a expliqué le Bureau de la concurrence.

Les applications en question permettent aux clients de Bell de gérer leurs comptes de téléphonie mobile directement depuis leur appareil mobile.

Dans le communiqué annonçant sa décision, le Bureau de la concurrence a souligné que Bell avait coopéré "sans réserve, promptement et de façon continue" à son enquête, et qu'elle était intervenue rapidement pour retirer les critiques et les évaluations "dès qu'elle a été informée du problème".

"Néanmoins, le Bureau a conclu que ces critiques et évaluations avaient créé l'impression générale qu'elles émanaient de consommateurs indépendants et impartiaux et qu'elles avaient temporairement nui à l'évaluation globale (nombre d'étoiles) des applications", a ajouté l'organisme.
