JÉRUSALEM - Israël a commis des crimes de guerre pendant le conflit à Gaza cet été, notamment en frappant trois écoles de l'ONU où des Palestiniens avaient trouvé refuge, a affirmé jeudi Human Rights Watch.

Le groupe new-yorkais de défense des droits de la personne dit avoir enquêté sur ces trois attaques, qui ont fait 45 morts.

Les recherches menées sur le terrain et les témoins rencontrés par les enquêteurs de HRW portent l'organisation à conclure qu'aucun objectif militaire n'était apparent autour des écoles, et que certaines frappes semblent avoir été menées aveuglément.

Un conseiller spécial de HRW, Fred Abrahams, a indiqué par voie de communiqué qu'Israël a attaqué trois écoles bien indentifiées où il savait que des centaines de personnes s'étaient réfugiées.

M. Abrahams a ajouté qu'Israël n'a fourni aucune explication convaincante concernant ces attaques.

Israël accuse le groupe militant Hamas d'avoir tiré des roquettes depuis des écoles, des mosquées et des quarties résidentiels, provoquant des frappes aériennes de rétorsion.

Israël a annoncé mercredi l'ouverture de sa propre enquête pour faire la lumière sur les pertes de vie civiles palestiniennes pendant ce conflit qui a fait plus de 2100 morts dans le camp palestinien.
