EGYPTE - Les images sont frappantes. "Bombardé" de rayons lasers, un hélicoptère devenu fluorescent survole des centaines de milliers de personnes massées dans la nuit. Depuis le début des manifestations place Tahrir, les rayons laser sont devenus le symbole de la grogne contre l'(ex)président Mohamed Morsi, et le moyen de véhiculer des messages.

• Les hélicoptères : ennemis puis alliés

Ce n'est pourtant pas de la science-fiction. La scène, à voir dans la vidéo en haut de cet article, se déroulait au Caire lors de la manifestation géante organisée dimanche 30 juin contre le président Morsi à l'occasion du premier anniversaire de son élection.

Alors qu'un hélicoptère de l'armée survolait le palais présidentiel, dans le quartier d'Héliopolis, des manifestants ont dirigé leur pointeur laser vers l'appareil, forçant son pilote à le dérouter, puis à se poser sans encombre selon l'édition suisse de 20minutes.

Lundi, l'accueil réservé à l'armée s'est révélé bien différent, puisqu'elle s'est officiellement rangée du côté des opposants au régime. Le commandement militaire a ainsi prévenu que les forces armées interviendraient si les revendications du peuple n'étaient pas satisfaites dans les prochaines 48 heures, provoquant une explosion de joie chez les manifestants:

Les manifestants n'avaient d'ailleurs pas hésité alors à sortir à nouveau leurs lasers, cette fois pour saluer le passage des hélicoptères de l'armée:

• Des slogans sur les bâtiments

L'usage de pointeurs laser puissants a également servi à éclairer le bâtiment présidentiel et même à faire passer des messages: on ne peut plus clair "MORSI" "OUT", "GAME OVER" (voir diaporama ci-dessous).

• Une mode qui date de plusieurs années...

Déjà, en 2012, des manifestants s'en étaient servis pour viser l'armée et les bâtiments. Car ces lasers sont devenus en l'espace de quelques années très bon marché. Sur un site spécialisé, on peut en trouver pour moins de 20 euros. Si ces lasers ne sont globalement pas dangereux, ils peuvent aveugler un pilote par exemple, ou laisser des séquelles plus importantes en cas d'exposition prolongées.
