Zach Parisé, Patrck Kane et Joe Pavelski ont déjoué Carey Price. Le gardien du Canada participait à son premier match organisé depuis qu'il s'était blessé, la saison dernière avec le Canadien de Montréal.

Price a repoussé 21 rondelles dans une cause perdante.

Jonathan Quick a cédé une fois sur 33 lancers en deux périodes. Ben Bishop a réalisé 9 arrêts en troisième.

Parisé a fait dévier un tir de loin de Ryan Suter qui a déjoué Price. Kane a ensuite coincé la rondelle derrière le gardien du Canada pour porter la marque à 2-0.

Le Canada avait pourtant pris l'avance 12-1 au chapitre des tirs avant que les États-Unis ne se réveillent.

Patrice Bergeron a réduit l'écart en milieu de deuxième période. L'attaquant des Bruins s'est emparé d'une rondelle libre devant Quick.

Pavelski a foncé au filet et profité d'un long tir de Jack Johnson pour rétablir la priorité de trois buts des Américains.

Brasse-camarade

Une mêlée a éclaté devant le filet de Price quelques instants plus tard. D'abord, Ryan Kesler a asséné une mise en échec dangereuse à Shea Weber. Jonathan Toews s'est porté à la défense de Weber, qui s'est relevé sans trop de difficulté.

Kesler a reçu une pénalité d'inconduite et a été expulsé de la rencontre.

En troisième période, Ben Bishop a fait son entrée dans le match, comme c'était prévu par les dirigeants américains. Le gardien du Lightning de Tampa Bay a cependant été déjoué par un tir puissant d'un angle restreint de Drew Doughty.

Sur la séquence suivante, Claude Giroux a quitté la surface de jeu avec l'aide du thérapeute d'Équipe Canada. L'attaquant des Flyers de Philadelphie est tombé après une mise en échec de Pavelski.

Giroux est cependant revenu au jeu quelques instants plus tard.

Derek Stepan a complété le pointage dans un filet désert. C'était le seul tir au but des États-Unis dans les 20 dernières minutes de jeu.

Les deux formations ont à nouveau rendez-vous samedi soir à Ottawa.
