Curling féminin: Le Canada subit une première défaite

À son quatrième match, le Canada a subi un premier revers par le pointage de 6-3 contre la Russie au Championnat du monde de curling féminin, présenté à Swift Current, en Saskatchewan.

Malgré cette défaite, le Canada (3-1) demeure au premier rang du classement, mais à égalité avec trois autres équipes, soit la Russie, le Japon et la Suisse.

La capitaine de l'équipe canadienne, Chelsea Carey, a connu un match difficile avec un taux de précision de seulement 80 %.

Carey, qui a inscrit tous ses points en troisième manche, n'a pas réussi à forcer la main de son adversaire, Anna Sidorova, au cours des manches suivantes.

La capitaine russe a été très patiente, laissant trois bouts blancs, avant de profiter d'une erreur de Carey pour marquer deux fois en septième manche.

Grâce à une autre erreur de Carey avec le marteau au bout suivant, la Russie a volé un point pour prendre les devants 5-3. Sidorova a réussi un autre vol au neuvième pour mettre le match hors de portée des Canadiennes.

Ce soir, les Canadiennes ont rendez-vous avec les Suédoises. Margaretha Sigfridsson, la capitaine, représente son pays pour une huitième fois, mais elle n'est jamais monté sur la plus haute marche du podium.
