L'esprit d'Oscar de la Renta continue de vivre tous les jours au Festival de Cannes.
Bien que le designer de mode originaire de la République dominicaine soit décédé l'an dernier, à l'âge de 82 ans, après une lutte contre le cancer, ses créations continuent de dominer le tapis rouge, ayant été portées notamment par Emma Stone, Aishwarya Rai et Karlie Kloss.

Un documentaire, intitulé Ovation for Oscar, rend maintenant hommage à son oeuvre et a été projeté à Cannes.
Recueillant notamment les témoignages de l'éditrice de l'édition américaine de Vogue Anna Wintour et de la veuve du designer Annette de la Renta, le film de 20 minutes réalisé par Ryan Curtis offre un regard inédit sur la première exposition posthume des créations du designer à l'École d'art et de design de Savanah. Le regretté créateur s'était impliqué dans l'élaboration de l'exposition.
Le film montre la création de l'exposition à travers le regard d'un jeune étudiant, qui s'émerveille devant les nombreux designs du créateur, incluant la célèbre robe rouge portée par Hillary Clinton sur la couverture de Vogue, en 1998.
Le film précise que chaque robe qu'il a créée a capté l'essence unique de la femme pour laquelle elle a été fabriquée.
"C'est l'un des derniers grands maîtres. Il aimait chacune de ces femmes, et c'est ce qui a fait son génie", a noté le réalisateur.
